Legal Run 2016

On 29 May 2016 over 3,000 lawyers from 37 cities and 11 countries of the world took part in Legal Run 2016 — a unique fundraising project that has been uniting the representatives of the global lawyers' professional community for three years for charitable purposes. The project is dedicated to three events — day of the Russian legal profession (31 may), World No Tobacco Day (31 May) and the Children's Day (1 June) and is held under the auspices of Federal Chamber of Lawyers of the Russian Federation, VDNH and St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.   

The primary Runs were held in 9 cities: MoscowSt. PetersburgLondonNizhny NovgorodSamara and Novosibirsk, and for the first time this year in EkaterinburgTyumen and Voronezh. In the other 28 cities all over the world the Global Legal Run events were held, including lawyers flashmobs in Russia from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad and outside Russia — from Helsinki to Miami and New York, and even in far away New Zealand the lawyers came out to the streets of their city to run any distance to support the project. Legal Run is a fundraising project. The contributions are collected during online registration for the Run, and the funds are directly transferred to the long-standing project partner  Gift of Life Charity Foundation to render named patient medical assistance to its persons under care. Over 3.2 million rubles was raised within the framework of the project in 2016 which were used for patient medical assistance for twelve severely ill kids: Nikita Sorokin (Vysokovsk, Moscow Region), Sveta Boroeva (Zutkuley settlement, Zabaykalsky Krai), Dima Kireev (Krasnodar Krai), Kira Ustyuzhanina (Sharya, Kostroma Region), Polina Klinkovich (Almaty, Kazakhstan), Valery Savin (Kasimov, Ryazan Region), Ikbor Arslanov (Khujand, Tadjikistan), Alan Ryaboshatn (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), Grisha Bardalym (Nizhnevartovsk, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District), Katya Okhrimenko (Tver), Masha Dodina (Vyazma), Irina Zinovieva (Yoshkar Ola).

The Runs are arranged at the expense of private donations and sponsor's funds — legal firms and other companies. In 2016 the project was supported by over 75 Russian and foreign legal firms, including 24 companies that rendered sponsor support to the Moscow Run: А2, Art de Lex, BGP Litigation, Westside Advisors, Gudkov, Korelsky, Smolyarzh, DS Law, Egorov, Puginsky, Afanasiev & Partners, Zabeida, Kasatkin, Saushkin and Partners, CLIFF, Korelsky, Ishuk, Astafiev and Partners, Koblev and Partners, Com-Unity, Linia Prava, Linklaters, Olevinsky, Buyukyan and Partners, Ost Legal, RCT, S&K Vertical, Sobolev and Partners, FBK Pravo, YurPartner, YuST, and Translex legal translations agency. The representatives of the Russian and foreign legal firms, internal legal departments of the companies, students and teachers from the law schools annually participate in the Runs. Many of them take part in the Run in their corporate teams.

The Run is arranged by a professional team consisting of lawyers, marketing experts, experts in the sphere of sports events, volunteers and other persons involved. The Runs are held in accordance with the score-sheets in compliance with sporting events rules and standards including available ambulances, drinking points, indicators, professional judges with the state-of-the-art devices, navigation along the route, etc. 

The Runs are arranged at the expense of private donations and sponsor's funds — legal firms. Over 500 people worked to implement the Legal Run project in 2016.
